This year’s edition of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has already seen its first high-roller event kick off. The eighth event in the 2018 WSOPE Schedule, which is the €25,500 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller, took some of the stars of the international live poker arena to the King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, with the Australian Michael Addamo emerging as the chip leader after 14 levels of play.
Last year, the Scotsman Niall Farrell managed to conquer a 113-strong field to win the first-place prize worth €745,287 and a WSOPE gold bracelet. This year, the competition once again gathered some of the greatest poker players for a thrilling competition in King’s Casino Rozvadov.

Curiously, the first day of the €25,500 NLHE event of the Super Highroller Series started rather slowly. As there were only seven players who got themselves registered for the first high roller event of the series, the beginning of the tournament was delayed. A bit later, the tournament director decided to give the official start to the event, regardless of the fact there were still only seven players registered to participate at that point.
One of the first entrants, Timothy Adams, started to build a strong chip stack early in the game, so he managed to gain momentum and eventually finished the first day with 4,775,000 in chips. By the time of the first break, there were already 40 entries around the tables, and their number rose to a total of 124 entries by the end of the day, with 80 unique players and 44 re-entries registered.
Michael Addamo to Face 48 Competitors on His Way to the Title
As mentioned above, it was the Australian poker player Michael Addamo who emerged as the chip leader at the end of Day 1 of the 2018 WSOPE €25,500 NLHE High Roller event, with a total chip stack of 8,120,000.
Addamo, who so far has generated total live earnings of $2,131,419 and a best live cash amounting to $653,581, is to now try and keep his good pace in the game in order to remain on top of the 49-player field. In case he succeeds to do so and wins the event, this would be his second WSOP bracelet since he took down the $2,620 NLHE Marathon event of the 49th Worlds Series of Poker in July.
The €25,500 High Roller is up to 104 entries with 68 making it to Level 12. David Peters is the current chip leader.

The player field was not easy to deal with even for experienced players such as Anthony Zinno, Bertrand Grospellier, Benjamin Pollak, Jack Salter, etc., who fell short by the end of the day.
Still, the tournament’s structure offers a late registration option until the beginning of Day 2, so players still have the chance to try their luck one more time. Some of the poker stars, who are set to continue in Day 2 of the €25,500 NLHE High Roller, are Igor Kirganov, David Peters, Timothy Adams, Sergio Aido, Dominik Nitsche, Ivan Leow, Rainer Kempe, Koray Aldemir, etc. There were only two ladies, Liv Boeree and Kristen Bicknell, who were able to make it to Day 2 of the competition.
